wide should be resized to 320X240 or equal ratio. Otherwise they will be crushed
and distorted to match that height to width ratio.
- Movies compressed
with most codecs including DivX 4.11 and higher are supported. Movies compressed
using earlier versions of the DivX codec are not supported by Direct Show. Fx,
Joiner includes a conversion utility that will attempt to convert DivX-3 and earlier
movies to MPEG-4. You can also use an external tool such as VirtualDub to convert
- If you create a slideshow using only still images
you should use the Video for Windows compression tool since all newer compression
schemes assume an audio track.

it takes for a transition to complete is set in Settings and Preferences. Please
note that for best results the duration of a media clip should always be a longer
period of time than the transition time.

Splitter will suggest a new file name based upon the old file name and path with
an underscore and a number appended. You may change this by typing in another
file name or browsing to another location. If you select a name that already exists
you will be asked if you want to replace it. Occasionally over-writing an existing
file will fail because of a Windows sharing violation. In such cases use another
name then rename the file after windows releases the handles.

is Video Compression?|
|Video takes up a lot of space. Uncompressed
footage from a camcorder takes up about 17MB per second of video. Because it takes
up so much space, video must be compressed before it is put on the web. ¡°Compressed¡±
just means that the information is packed into a smaller space. There are two
kinds of compression: lossy and lossless.|
Lossy compression means that the compressed
file has less data in it than the original file. In some cases this translates
to lower quality files, because information has been ¡°lost,¡±
hence the name. However, you can lose a relatively large amount of data before
you start to notice a difference. Lossy compression makes up for the loss in quality
by producing comparatively small files. For example, DVDs are compressed using
the MPEG-2 format, which can make files 15 to 30 times smaller, but we still tend
to perceive DVDs as having high-quality picture.

DVD, WMV formats. It also supports join video files to VCD/SVCD image and DVD-Video
